The Moninger Family's Home
"An attractive flower garden near the All Vets Club and Golf Course on North Shore Drive. The home still stands today, however the area at left has been developed."
Quoted from the book, "Clear Lake, Iowa 1851-2006".

Yes, that was our house. In the foreground was Beck's Gardens. Mr. Beck had established it as a memorial to his wife. There was a little house in the middle of the gardens where Elmer Anderson the caretaker and his wife lived. Our driveway was city right-of-way for a possible street. Even the Popular trees west of our garage were on city property. We were there 1954-59

The Beck's Garden are featured in the front of the photo. Mr. Anderson, the gardener, lived in a little house down our drive to the left. Of course, that's long gone as are the gardens.
The picture of both our houses is amazing! I haven't seen an aerial view before. Interesting to see the docks on the lake and all the trees. It would be fun to see one of that area today.

This is part of the North Shore Drive waterfront, Golf Course back to the train tracks.
Wonderful old aerial shot!

The Moninger home is mid right in the picture, the golf course and All Vet's is to the far left, the Hayden home is top right. (I think the white was a treatment for grubs that summer). Early 1950s Julie Hayden Traub CLHS 1960
The size of Beck's Gardens is evident here. Also the caretakers house is directly west of ours. Bob Moninger
