From Sharon and Keith Tarr (1963)

FRIENDS:  Never ask for food.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Always bring the food.

FRIENDS:  Will say "hello".
IOWA FRIENDS:  Will give you a big hug and a kiss.

FRIENDS:  Call your parents Mr. And Mrs.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Call your parents Mom and Dad.

FRIENDS:  Have never seen you cry.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Cry with you.

FRIENDS:  Will eat at your dinner table and leave.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Will spend hours there, talking, laughing, and then clean up.

FRIENDS:  Know a few things about you.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Could write a book with direct quotes from you.

FRIENDS:  Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Will kick the whole crowd's butts that left you.

FRIENDS:  Would knock on your door.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Walk right in and say, "I'm home!" or look in your frig to find out what's to eat.

FRIENDS:  Are for a while.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Are for life.

FRIENDS:  Will ignore this.
IOWA FRIENDS:  Will forward this.
(It's up to you if you forward it or not, that was not my intention, but I knew you would enjoy it.  After all... you are my Iowa friends!"

Thanks Sharon and Keith Tarr (1963) for sending such a cute reminder of Iowa hospitality!!)

Friends vs. Iowa friends!
Background Sound is 'This One's For You'
A Barry Manilow song
and it is for you, our Iowa friends!
Coworkers have trouble understanding why I love IA so and talk about the cold, humidity, heat, etc.  Unless one has ever lived there, it's difficult to explain that it's the PEOPLE I gravitate towards...not the "dressing" that comes with society's current need to accumulate things.  Cheryl (1963)
