The Cutting Edge
'The Barber Shops of Clear Lake'
"The barbershop next to the Lake Theater was operated by Fred Martin and then Ruben Schram bought it in 1959. There was also a barbershop under what is now the Corner Drug and it was operated by Nibbs Nesbit.
Mary and Gary Marshall (1959)"

"Down By The Old Mill Stream"
(Barbershop music... get it?)
haha
If you have a memory to share about the barbershops in town,
I remember Jessie's Barbershop!! We all would taipse down there at lunch
and get a snack and just beyond it was a building where everyone scratched
their initials into the bricks. His son was in my class of 61.
If we are going into hair, what about the beauty shops? Remember Alice Van Loan on Main Street (is now part of the current Corner Drug)? Mary (Rogers) Marshall--Class of 1961
Dr. Gross, DO and Dr. Scribbins, DDS Office.
Was the property of the old
Jesse's Barber Shop.
(The Buttleman home behind, across the alley.)
The Eastman Barber Shop was purchased by Don Finn who ran it for years--they lived across (west) from the Jr. High on 8th St. and his wife Helen was a dispatcher for the Police Department (both dead now). They had a daughter, Julie who would be in her mid-50's. Merlea Amundson Schultz- 1967
Note:
My husband's Grandparents were the Eastmans who at one time ran the store and the gas station when there. They lived next door in the big white house. Julie Hayden Traub (1960)
