Thank you!
I've decided to make this another 'interactive' page. I've received some really nice emails about this so I'll post them here (without last names) for you to enjoy also. Thank you all sooooo much!!
"Thank you for the Lion's Roar. So much fun to hear the song and think of the games and marching in the band. I played the clarinet and do remember marching and of course Band Festival and the year of the "Music Man" movie opening and Shirley Jones and Robert Preston coming to M.C. and the parade and festivities that followed. That year we were one of the first bands not to wear the "official" uniforms. They were to heavy and to hot. So the school or band committee decided our band would wear White sailor hats, Blue and white boat neck striped t-shirts, white jammers or pedal pushers or long white slacks for the boys and white tennis shoes. It was great!!!!! I have not thought about that for ??????? years!!!!" CLHS 1963 classmate
I seem to remember the band in the summer of 1957 wearing black or charcoal gray Bermuda shorts and pink shirts and black ivy league hats... am I wrong on the year? Julie (CLHS 1960 classmate)
It has been a LOOOOONG time since I heard that song! How fun! Thanks, Eleanor (CLHS 1958)
Do you know the words? I don't know them all, but I could get them. Maybe they could be typed on this same page as the band plays the song...that way they could sing along. Is that possible? Dee (CLHS 1956)
Great stuff here. Thanks for sharing Richard (CLHS 1958)

Just played the CL Fight Song. COOL! Brought back some memories of CL Marching band. Someplace there was a picture or may have been in the CL Year Book for 1952-53. Picture was of CL Marching Band and Majorettes. Julie Tenol and I were both in that picture as majorettes dressed in long pants instead of the regular short skirts. Think there may have been a shortage of majorette uniforms or maybe we were called junior majorettes??? Such a looooong time ago I don't remember. My family moved to Calif in January of 1953. So thanks for the CL fight song. : ) Sheryl (CLHS 1956)
I don't even remember the fight song! And I don't think I knew Wangberg wrote it.
Thanks, Barb (CLHS 1959)
Thanks it was great to hear it. I enjoy the web, thank you very much. Have great holiday season. Stan (CLHS 1957)
It's great to hear the Clear Lake fight song. I didn't remember it was written by Wangberg, either. It brings back a lot of memories. Dana (CLHS 1959)
Can you hear those Lions roar? Can you hear those Lions roar?
You can hear them (shouting ??) everywhere,
As they score and score some more.
Can you hear those Lions roar? They'll score and score some more.
So fight fellas! Fight 'em Fight 'em, Fight 'em,
Till you hear those Lions, Hear those Lions, Hear those Lions Rooaaor!
(Thank you Bob Thompson, CLHS '57 for these words!)
Can't you hear those Lions roar?
Can't you hear those Lions roar?
Can't you hear those Lions everywhere
as they score and score some more?
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Can't you hear those Lions roar?
Their loud and mighty roar.
So fight Lions, Fight! Fight! Fight!
Can't you hear those Lions
hear those Lions,
hear those Lions roar?
Go! Fight! Win!
These words are from my children and grandchildren.
Three generations through the school!
There are probably others with bigger bragging rights.
Thanks go to Gayle P. Snow for this!

I sing it all the time!! My kids always got a kick out of it. I'm sure those drums in the foreground are crowbar(Gerald Stevens), Rosemary Christensen and myself. Sorry if I left anyone out. Diane Hintzman Guinn CLHS 1956
