While in Clear Lake for the All Website Reunion this summer (2009), John and I visited the Central Gardens of North Iowa - on the site of the old Central School/Jr. High and High School/Jr. High - the two schools that have since burned down.  In this picture of John and me, the white house in the background is the house I grew up in.  We moved to Clear Lake from Mason City the summer before I started fifth grade and my brother, Bob, started high school.  Someone offered to take this picture for us - kind of special, I think.  Our parents (John and Lorine Steinberg) bought this house from the Larson family.  I loved the fact that I was close enough to school that I could walk home for lunch - or wait for the first bell before I ran across the street and up the hill in the morning to Central School - before the second bell! Our street (Third Avenue N) came to a "T" right in the middle of the block - between the two schools.

These are pictures taken in the Gardens, with my house in the

I looked up this site -
It is called
Central Gardens of North Iowa -
still being developed, but very nice.
