What I enjoy: being a grandma-the BEST, family time when I can get it, playing with friends, deep belly laughs (sometimes at myself), Ireland, meditation, yoga (when I don't do it, my body hurts), music, dancing, gardening, margaritas made with Don Julio Tequila and Grand Marnier, movies, massage, Reiki (I'm a Reiki practitioner/teacher), walking on beach-lake or ocean, reading a good book while sun bathing on a dock or beach, long walks in the woods, hiking in the mountains (don't get to do that often in Iowa), traveling, taking the back roads, small town cafes,  occasional "big city" experiences including interesting cuisine.

My sons have both lived in interesting places, giving me excuse to spend time in Montana (what an awesome state you live in, Chris and Lois!!), NO Carolina, UK, and Ireland.  Sevan has been in England since 1994. A double-edged sword. Until he and his English/Irish wife started having babies, we traveled when I was there. Now when I go (about 3 x a year), I focus on being a grandma, with side trips alone or with friends usually once a year. I'll take the girls with me when they are older and their parents allow.

In 1999 we went to Ireland and I fell in love with the country, the people, and their music.  I have returned several times with family, friends, and twice traveled alone. When I travel alone, I allow intuition and synchronicity to guide me and have discovered places that are not in the tourist books or maps.  I am especially passionate about pre-historic/sacred sites in Ireland..stone circles, Cairns (passage tombs/temples), dolmens. Some of these believed to be older than the Egyptian Pyramids and the English Stonehenge.  The energy in these places is magical.  And I am sure I have yet to discover more. I have mastered the art of driving alone in Ireland. which, if you have not been there, is mastery. (Yes, I brag.) My dream is to have a part time retirement business.. being a guide for Americans (and other English speaking people as I'm not multi-lingual) interested in traveling off the busy tourist routes to obscure, prehistoric, sacred sites in Ireland..and roaming the sea towns, hiking in the mountains, walking the hills and wild beaches, and pub time: listening to music, talking to the locals, enjoying REAL Irish Guinness, maybe even attempting the Irish Jig.  I'm going back in June to continue work on manifesting that dream. If you wanta go with me sometime, please be in touch.
Closing Comments:
I have really enjoyed reading about your lives and been impressed by your interests. Too many to repeat, but to mention just a few: Jerry A's talk of he and Sandy's cycling experiences is inspirational.  Peggy M. got her motorcycle license!!!! Wow!!! Deby A., The Ant Lady, continues to uncover wondrous secrets. And special "thank you!" to Bonnie, Jacque and Julie for contributing so much time to this class website.
A quote to share that seems appropriate for us now:
"We turn not older with years, but newer every day." - Emily Dickinson

Life since CLHS:
First year out of CLHS went to NIACC. Wasn't ready to be back in school. Summer of '66 left college and Iowa. Spent the next 4 years working, exploring, entering college again, dropping out again, and experiencing life in 4 states til I landed back in Iowa in 1970. This winter has made me consider joining those of you that are wiser than me living in the southwest.
I have often preferred taking the road less traveled. Though it might be bumpier, the scenery is interesting, and there is more opportunity for moving at one's own pace. At 60, I am still a sortuva 60's child.idealistic, spiritual, liberal, renegade. I speak out when I see injustice, hoping to plant seeds. I applaud Steve O. for simplifying and "unplugging". Gutsy.
