A Note from his brother, Bob
The web page is very cool. Thanks to all those responsible. Rick's passing wasn't a total surprise; it's the timing that sucks! He has had some ongoing health problems and was down in Iowa City last week for stress tests at the UI Hospitals  He stayed with us (Shelley Garlock and myself). The two hour stress test turned into two and a half days. The end result was that he needed double bypass surgery. His Daughter Chelsea is getting married in 2 weeks in Austin, TX and he wanted to wait until after that to go in. He didn't make it. Bummer.

We did have a great time in IC on that first Monday night. Went to a favorite little watering hole that had a great local Blues band. Rick really enjoyed that.

Everything kind of went downhill
from there.

You're welcome to share any or
all of the above.

Thanks again

CLEAR LAKE - Richard Paul Satter, 62, of Clear Lake, died Saturday (Aug. 29, 2009) at home of a heart attack.

A celebration of Rick's life will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 4, 2009, at the Lodge, Girl Scout Camp Tanglefoot, 14948, Clear Lake, Iowa.  Friends are welcome to gather after 12:30 p.m.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Born in Clear Lake, Iowa, Jan. 2, 1947, to Paul and Nancy Satter, Rick was a talented photographer and avid collector of Western art.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree and was the head of the Audio/Visual Department in the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.  He moved to Summit County, Colorado, in 1977 and joined a real estate appraisal company. After several years, Rick went on to manage Virgin Islands Ski Rental in Silverthorne, Colo., where he lived until moving back to Clear Lake upon retirement.

Rick loved to ski, travel, and spend time at the houseboat on Lake Powell. More than anything, he loved spending time with his friends, of which he had many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother John.  Rick is survived by his daughter, Chelsea, of Austin, Texas; his identical twin brother, Bob Satter of Iowa City; his nephew, Zachary Satter of San Francisco, Calif.; and his niece, Cassie Goodwin of Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are with the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake; 641-357-2193, www.colonialchapels.com

I'd just like to thank everybody for the Memorial Page for Rick. It was extremely thoughtful of you. The Celebration had a great turnout with quite a few classmates in attendance as well as many, many friends; old and new.
Once again, thank you very much for your thoughts and support during these trying times.
