Favorite song from the 60's for background music:  Torn between the Beach Boys' "Surfer Girl" and Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction".

My Life and Family:
Ok, here goes.  Let me start by saying that Steve Oredsen wrote my Bio and it was so much more amusing and flowery, but I decided to go with a little reality.  Thanks anyway, Steve.  I really loved yours :)

After graduation I attended NIACC for a year (give or take a week).  I then followed Peggy Olson's footsteps and joined the Navy, only I became a dental technician.  I was active duty for 2 years during Viet Nam only I was in San Diego (it still wasn't pretty).  Then I got out, got married, moved back to southern Iowa, had two boys, got divorced 7 years later, stayed in Iowa until 1978, then decided after all those years I really didn't like the cold!!  My boys (then 6 and 8) and I moved to Arizona and that's where I've been ever since.  I stayed in dental for a while, joined the Navy Reserves and made it through Desert Storm (yes, in San Diego again, but did you know that no one can go overseas if they aren't dental qualified??)  After working for a dentist for years, I decided it would be nice to work somewhere that had benefits (i.e. vacation, health insurance, retirement, you know the stuff).  So I started with the Phoenix Police and became a Communications Operator.  In 2000 I retired from the Navy Reserves (23 yrs.).  After 911 and dispatching for 25 years (with only a little twitch) I retired in 2005 from the city job.  I still love the work so I dispatch about 2 days a week, which keeps me out of trouble...sort of!  I also watch my grandsons (ages 2 and 4) two days a week, and take my 9-year-old granddaughter to school at least once a week.

I love movies, music, traveling, HAPPY HOUR, lounging around the pool and lots of things!  I seem to be around for every orphaned or abandoned dog or cat but I'm down to 1 dog and 6 cats, which is why my sons say I'm single..!

Both my sons are Police Officers.  The youngest one has been on the Phoenix force for 12 years and my oldest is a Lead IT for the City of Phoenix (computer geek) and is now a Phoenix Reserve Officer.  It still amazes me why he wants to risk his life for free; but I'm very proud of them.  The kids have lots of toys and take me along to the Dunes and Rocky Pointe often.  Oh, and I forgot to mention that I got my motorcycle license 3 years ago, but have been too chicken to buy a Harley.  Maybe someday!

I've had lots of ups and downs, but I love life now.  I make it back to Clear Lake once or twice a year to see my dad and sister.  I keep in touch with Peggy Olson and just re-connected with Steve Oredsen.  What a kick!  I also e-mail Milt often.  I missed the 40-year reunion because my youngest grandson was due, but I will hopefully be at the next reunion!!  I would love to hear from anyone.  Has anyone ever heard from Debbie Heitland?
