Retired? Activities you enjoy: Hoping to retire in 5 years (as soon as the house is paid off). In the meantime I keep busy in my yard, which is my pride and joy. It's just the right size for me to tend my herbs and butterfly garden. My husband,Tim, and I were birdwatchers, and I continue to feed my feathered friends. I tend the feeders at our local Hospice also. I also enjoy biking, yoga, Tai Chi and cross-country skiing. I am a movie buff and an avid reader. A year ago I joined a book club called "Between the Wines".
Many moons have passed leaving lots of memories. I am a solitary sort who is grateful for a close and loving family and special friends here and there. Son Jeff and wife, Wendy, live in Clear Lake. Daughter Jennifer is a fireman (fireperson?) in Kingsland, GA. I look forward to my annual visits to Georgia. This past year we made a side trip to the Bahamas. No grandchildren, I have four felines to contend with instead. I feel fortunate that I was able to be a stay-at-home mom. No regrets there, but that doesn't really prepare you for the work force. When I was ready to go to work, my education in accounting was a bit out-of-date, especially the computer end of it. So I went another direction. Enjoyed 10 years waiting tables at a local "ma & pa". Then I went on board with our local hospital where I am a Unit Clerk in our Skilled Nursing Unit. Ironically, that job is a lot of computer work. I work every Fri-Sat-Sun (considered full-time) and am off the other 4 days. Next best thing to being retired, the drawback being when classmates come to town, it's usually on a weekend, and I miss connecting. When my daughter comes for a visit this October, I'm going to get a family picture for my site, but for now here is a photo of my first cat "Mr. Owen" (hence my e-mail address).
I love hearing from everyone and hope you are all enjoying our new web site !
Favorite song from the 60's for background music:
When looking through my "old" records, found I still had the Johnny Mathis album from high school. The things we save. Also found records we recorded our junior and senior year. We were good. However, just for fun, I'm going to go for "The Twist" by Chubby Checker.
