Your life since 1963:
Gracious! Who can remember back that far? Well, I guess I'll give it a stab. Let's see, after high
school I went to Ia. Luth. Hosp. for nurses training and flunked out after a year because it seems like
I never learned to study at good old Clear Lake High School. Can anyone else identify with that? After
that, I worked for awhile and then in 1965 I married Chuck and moved to Missouri, helped get Chuck through
college by ironing shirts for college guys and running a daycare. After Jeff was born and we moved
to Columbia, MO. , I went back to school and got my nursing liscense and was top in my class, (now
go figure). Then we had a darling little baby girl, Christine, moved to Des Moines where we had another
little boy named Tom. In 1972 we moved to Fort Dodge where Chuck worked with Land O Lakes and I was
a full-time stay-at-home domestic engineer, wife and mother. In 1982, we moved to Minneapolis and
have been here ever since. Now that we've been up here for 24 years, lots of things, mostly good I'm
happy to say, have taken place. I worked as a school nurse for five years and then worked at Concordia
University for three years as Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. I loved the job but had to quit
because I developed fibromyalgia and the Hepatitis B that I contracted while working as a nurse kicked
up pretty badly. I went to recover and then the rest of life began and so I'll quit here and move on
to ........ Your life now: In 1997, I graduated from Concordia Univ. with a double degree
in Orgainzational Management/Communications and Early Childhood, Family Education. Incidentally, I graduated
the same day as our son Tom did and both from Concordia. We were both surprised when we realized that
that was going to happen. :) Since then, I taught preschool for three years to the cutest little three
year olds in the world. But, darn it, my fibro wouldn't let me continue so I had to retire but continued
teaching parenting classes and marriage enrichment classes and do public speaking on parenting issues.
And oh, did I say that Chuck and I have been blessed with six wonderful grandchildren, four boys and
two girls, ages 17, 14, 13, 9, 8 and 4. I have become semi retired, Chuck will be retiring from his
second career 12/31/06 and we plan to continue to travel and I plan to continue mission work at an orphange
in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Now, it may look that we've no problems in life but God has been good and has
helped us through them and is very busy continuing to help us as we move on into the next chapters of
our lives.
