Your life since 1963: As Shakespeare said, "Tomorrow, and tomorrow
and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time...." Just
another way to say, "Where did all the time GO?!!?!" I graduated from Iowa State in 1967 (education),
and later went to graduate school at Drake and ISU. Since then I have taught school, but have worked
the last 21 years at Social Security Disability both in Iowa and Nevada. I divorced in 1981, and have
not been tempted to marry again. I have two great children, Angie, age 34; and Thomas, age 33. Angie
is close by at South Lake Tahoe, and Thomas lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
Your life now: I currently
live in Carson City, Nevada. Carson City is a small city located in a valley, surrounded by mountains.
It's lovely, and, of course, has many places to hike and ski. Our elevation here is 4500 ft. My 3
dogs and I hike the foothills every day if time permits; it's good for the lungs, that's for sure. Lake
Tahoe is just 30 minutes away and there's where we do serious mountain hiking. I plan to retire this
coming July. I'm not quite sure what I'll do after that. I have my Nevada Teacher's license, so I'll
probably do some substitute teaching. I love working with clay, so will go back to doing some pottery;
will take some college classes; maybe learn some woodworking skills. And, of course, read and rest!!
Sometimes I think about moving back to the Clear Lake area when I retire, but Mavis' E-mails about
the current Iowa winter have me questioning if that would be a wise choice. I don't think I'm capable
of doing all that shoveling myself. (Northern Nevada is semi-desert country; our highest annual precipitation
has been about 10 inches!)
What classmates have you kept in contact with? : Unfortunately,
none.
What classmates would you like to hear from? : I have so enjoyed reading our classmates'
profiles so far. I'll bet everyone responds sooner or later. Do you know what happened with Mr. Duffy
or Mr. Potts?
Would/could you help find classmates? : I don't have a home computer so don't
know how much help I could be. (And after July, I won't even have a work computer!)
Any hobbies?
: Hiking, reading, pottery (wheel work and sculpting), painting, and dogs.
