Mrs. Donna Marie
Mortensen, 53, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, July 16, 1998 at the Muse-Norris
Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, July 18, at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The
family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.
Donna was born in
Winnebago, Minn., the daughter of Raymond E. and Lillian Esther (Toppin)
Doolittle. The family moved to Clear Lake in 1958. She graduated from Clear Lake
High School in 1962 and then continued her education at LaJames College of
Hairstyling and Cosmetology, Mason City.
Donna married Ken
Mortensen on Sept. 20, 1964 at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. She
worked for her aunt, Ruth Toppin in the Beauty Shop. In 1983 she started her own
business of painting and wall papering with the help of her good friend Kathy
Hinrichs.
Donna enjoyed her cats,
traveling, playing marbles and most of all her grandchildren. She was a member
of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.
She is survived by her
husband, Ken Mortensen, Clear Lake; her mother, Esther Doolittle, Clear Lake;
one daughter, Shelley Cobb and her husband, Fred, Riverside, Iowa; and one son,
David Mortensen and his wife, Joy, Coralville, Iowa; two grandsons, Hunter and
Tucker Cobb; five sisters, Kathryn Clark, Yakima, Wash., Mary Helen Hopkins,
Fresno, Calif., Ruth Cordes, Grove City, Minn., Karen Curry, St. James, Minn.,
and Judy Watson, Clear Lake; two brothers, Earl Doolittle, Fairmont, Minn., and
Richard Doolittle, Pensacola, Fla.
She was preceded in
death by her father; and an infant daughter, Nancy.
