Thoughout our growing up years in Clear Lake.. our School Days.. our classmates, the friends we made there, the teachers and staff ...... all left Impressions upon us that helped to make us who we are today.

Unlike the Memories Page, this page is dedicated to those long ago impressions that were embedded in our memory of a certain person, so deeply that we still remember them vividly today
.

We would love to hear about those, whose encounter in your life, most impressed you.
Welcome to 'Impressions'.

Our first 'Impression' comes from Naila Clough Erwin.

Thank you Naila for sharing your impressions and remembrances of a classmate we all know and love...
Judy Leonard.

Judy and I were playmates when we were in grade school and our parents made all sorts of arrangements for that to happen because I lived in town and she lived near Bayside.  As a result, we had lots of sleep-overs.  I remember my mom almost always made us a cake and her mom almost always made us the most wonderful popcorn with lots of butter.  We had to share it with her brother, however!

My favorite memory which tells about how she was as a person, was our senior year in high school.  She and I were both on the Dandy Lion newspaper and the Yearbook staff.  When it came time for us to decide who to dedicate our senior annual to, the usual favorite teachers and administrators came up.  Judy suggested the janitor, Milt Toinbee (I may not have his last name spelled correctly...Julie Traub has borrowed my year book).
I can still hear the roomfull of us kids now.."Judy, you have got to be kidding..the JANITOR?  WHY?"
She said, "He's retiring this year.  He's helped every single one of us every day behind the scenes have a clean school to be proud of.  He never gets any recognition except for a 'thank you' now and then and not often enough.  He deserves it.  It would make him proud.  And besides, I bet no other senior class has EVER dedicated their annual to a janitor.  Those are all the reasons WHY."
And we voted on it and did dedicate it to Milt, and it DID surprise the faculty and Milt was as pleased as if he had received a gold medal  And it was Judy's idea.
