What's happened since 1960? You may remember me as Charles Rowen, 1957 yearbook, freshmen class photo. I went by Rowen, my stepfathers name, to avoid confusion for my younger brothers and sisters. I was pretty wild in high school. I ran into Bob Whelan in Japan and he reminded me about riding a motorcycle through our High School corridors. Robert Speakar also remembered the same incident, along with a few others. I quit school in 1959 and joined the US Navy. I received my GED while in the Navy, but do regret not having all the class memories many of you share. I spent 3 years in Japan, and 5 years on the West Coast. I attended some classes at UCSB and smoked a lot of Columbian Gold! I married and had a son, Charles Oliver, 46 years old. I returned to the midwest to be near my family, and accepted a job with Chicago Bridge and Iron. I was married and had 3 wonderful children, pictured here at their mothers funeral. Jodie, 42 yrs old; Kathryn, 39 yrs old; and Flower, 36 yrs old. I have 7 grandchildren from them. In 1973 I completed training and flight hours to earn my Private Pilots license. I have owned and operated McGrady Drywall and Paint Company since 1973. I met the love of my life, Jennifer, and was married to her in 1983. We moved to Houston, TX, and returned to the area in 1987. Our daughter Kelsey is 26, and her son Kaiden is 3 years old.
What's happening now? We enjoy life in Lake Mills, and being able to be close to family. I still enjoy working; my hobbies include golfing, fishing, and traveling. We go to spend time with my brother, Jim, in Tennessee, and Jennifer and I travel to Mexico every winter. We spend time in Clear Lake enjoying my roots.
