What's happened since 1959?* I went to Iowa State and got a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1963. I went to work for Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc. and stayed with them until I retired at the end of 1989.
In 1964 I received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Harvard after one school year of full-time study sponsored by my employer, and in 1972 I received a Master's in Mathematics from NYU after several years of part-time study sponsored by my employer.
My first 11 years with Bell Labs, when not in school I worked developing sonar systems for the U.S. Navy in the Ocean Systems Laboratory in Whippany, New Jersey . After my father's death in 1974, I transferred to the Electronic Switching Systems Laboratory in Naperville, Illinois where I spent the remainder of my career developing telephone switching systems, including cellular systems.
After my retirement, I remained in Wheaton, Illinois until I eventually sold my house there and moved into an apartment in downtown Chicago where I lived for six years. Then I moved here to Honolulu where I have lived since 2002.
What's happening now?* I am enjoying retirement here in the Waikiki district of Honolulu.
