What's happened since 1959?* Enlisted in the USAF, fall of ‘59. Enjoyed the challenge of basic training with Rex Miner at Lackland AFB, Texas. Next was electronic tech school in Denver, then to Japan for two years with a couple months TDY in Korea, maintaining gun and bomb systems on the F-100 fighter jet (lead sled). My fourth and last year was spent at Las Vegas, learning to operate one-armed bandits, when I wasn’t working at Nellis AFB or at Carrol’s Hamburger Stand on The Strip.
After discharge I moved back to CL and pursued studies at MCJC. During the summers, I life-guarded at City Beach, met and started to date my future wife, Chris.
After JC I continued my formal education at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, leading to an optometric degree. Moved to Livingston, Montana in 1972, and practiced optometry for 30 years, until I finally got it right, then retired in ‘03.
Three sons showed up along the way... Mark, Chad, and Eric.
What are your hobbies? Since I can’t snow ski or windsurf any more, due to bad knees, I’m restricted to much slower endeavers... I’m into metal-working, and mechanical stuff. I finished building my third recumbent bicycle last summer. This year I’m bringing 3 vintage 1970’s motorcycles back to life.
