Nickname: Connie
Married: Kaye Leon Barlow (class of 57) married( September 9,1958)

After graduation:  I worked for the dime store there in Clear Lake until Kaye came home from Korea (he was in the Air force).  He was stationed in Reno, Nevada and we moved there, had two of our children there- Roxanne in 1960 and Laverne in 1962.  Then Kaye was sent to Turkey for 15 months and I moved back to Clear Lake to live with my grandmother. When Kaye returned from Turkey we were stationed in Chandler Arizona at Williams AFB.
There we had 3 more children, Annette in 1964, Russell in 1965 and after Kaye got out of the service in 1965 we actually had another one, Allan in 1967.  Boy was he expensive after the $25 for each of the other 4.  Kaye went to work for the Southern Pacific railroad until he got the call from the Tempe Post Office that he was hired.  We lived here in Arizona for a couple of years and then decided to move back to Iowa so Kaye could get his degree.  He went to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls Iowa and received his degree I also attended classes at UNI.  After Kaye's graduation we packed up and returned to Arizona with 5 kids, a pony, a dog and 5 cats.  It was quite a trip. Kaye was able to get back on at the Tempe Post office and worked as a clerk and then a carrier and eventually was named Director of Personal and Finance.  I got my BA degree from Arizona State University here in Tempe in 81 and taught Home Ec for a few years then decided that teaching just was not for me, at least not with high school students.   I have worked as a file room supervisor and also data entry.  I retired in 2004 taking early social Security.  I work part time for NCS Pearson a scoring company for the school systems.  It is interesting and something to do for 5 or 6 months.
Our family is mostly out here.  Roxanne lives with us and works as a cashier for Earnhardt Chrysler, LaVerne our son is in Kuwait working as a civilian security- his family is with him (he has 4 girls and 2 boys) but the 3 older girls stayed stateside as the oldest is working, 2nd is married and has 2 of our great grandchildren, Cheyenne 5 and Brent 4) Their daughter Naomi is 18 and had just started a new job so stayed in Texas.
With them in Kuwait are Gabrielle 17, Bryce 14 and Garrett 11- Verne's wife is Angela. He married her in Texas when he came back from Germany he was in the Air force and stationed in Texas.  Our next Daughter, Annette and her husband Mike, live in Chandler AZ with our two youngest grandchildren Savannah 10 and Chance 3.  Our next son, Russell, lives in Wittman with his wife Margie and his daughter Brandy, who is 16. The baby Allan lives in Glendale with his wife Lisa and their two boys, Kenneth 18 and Tyler 14, their daughter Elizabeth lives in Kentucky and has our other Great grandson, Taylor who is 2.
Our favorite thing to do is Disneyworld and Disneyland. We go to one or the other every year.  This year we are going to Disneyworld for two weeks, then a 7-day cruise on the Disney Magic.  We are really looking forward to this one.  Last year we spent 5 days at Disneyland in CA and 1 day at Magic Mountain.   Our family are roller coaster nuts. I guess they all love them and I use to until I hurt my knee and it gave me back problems.

NOW:
Kaye and I celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary on the 9th of September 2006.
Kaye has retired from the US Postal Service and the United States Air force and still works for Earnhardt Dodge in Gilbert AZ.  Whenever he decides to retire from there we plan to travel and see more of the United states.
Have kept in touch with Nancey Mix Guhl who still lives at the Lake.
As for the 50th class reunion, I plan on being there. We are attending Kaye's 50th class reunion next year in July.

Kaye and I are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary the 9th of September.  Yes we were one of the two that got married my senior year the other was Helen Webber Harlan.  We both had to walk as the last two of our class as the principal said we had to.  I won't be going to the reunion as my husband Kaye is taking me to Alaska for a week of land tour and a weeks cruise.  I would rather be with him.  We have had 50 real good years and have 5 children and 12 grandkids and 3 great grandkids  GREAT!

Kaye had his right knee replaced in January and did very well so now he had the left knee replaced on the 20th of April and is doing well with a therapist once a day here at home and several exercises he does daily himself.  He says he feels much better as his knees were really giving  him problems as it was bone on bone.  Now once he is healed nicely I will go in and have my shoulders checked as I have arthritis in both of them and can not reach or lift much or very high.  Sure hope the doctor can help. In 2007  I had the left knee scraped of calcium and a medicupis repaired in the back of that knee. Then my daughter and I were in a roll over accident on the way home from the doctors two days later so now am using a walker and getting around fairly well.
