Life now: Retired, road trips with husband, volunteer at granchildren's school and hospital, Red Hat member, 2 book clubs, play bridge and 500, Mall walker, have fun with grandchildren.
Family: Married almost 43 years. Both of us are retired. 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Married Allan Nyhus (Class of '58). We have lived our entire married life in Cedar Falls after we both graduated from U.N.I. I retired in 2002 after 30 years of teaching upper elementary students in Cedar Falls and Waterloo schools. I enjoyed teaching, however, I recognized I no longer had the energy, nor the enthusiasm for this important commitment.
Now I do a little substituting in my grandchildren's school, when I'm not busy with card clubs and some volunteering. Traveling and enjoying "food and friends" are other favorite pastimes. Most of all, we appreciate more time to enjoy our three children and six grandchildren.
Some fond high school memories are: band trips, Mr. Noble's classes, slumber parties, the senior trip and watching "American Bandstand" after riding the school bus (home) for 45 minutes.
