What's happened since 1959? Graduated from Univ of Iowa, taught a couple yrs, then became a school counselor. Did that until April, 2001, when I retired. Got married for the first time in 1964, divorced, married Leroy in 1981. Leroy has 2 kids, who have always been an important part of our life together.
I always enjoyed working in education, especially June, July, and August--time for golf, tennis, biking, travel, etc. But it was also good to be working in an area where I felt I could do some good.
What's happening now? Leroy and I used to come to Arkansas every chance we got. After vacationing in other places, we decided this is where we wanted to retire. Bella Vista is a beautiful town with hills, lakes and golf courses--and we do spend a lot of time on the golf courses. About 2 yrs ago we vacationed in FL and started playing Pickleball there. We brought the sport back to Bella Vista and introduced it to a small group of friends. We've kind of lost track of how many players we have (well over 100), but there are over 60 members of our Pickleball club. It's a great sport for us older folks who find tennis a little hard on the knees and shoulder. We have our own web site at www.bvpickleball.com Check it out.
I also volunteer at the library and do yoga and aerobics.
Are you planning on attending the 50th reunion? Yes
Who have you kept in touch with? Anyone who will answer the e-mails about the class of 59. I've stayed in touch with Nadine, Jo, Carolyn, Louise thru the years. Finally reconnected with Lois and Bob at the last reunion. It's been really special to be back in touch with Nancy Lien Weber.
Favorite song from the 50's 'Unchained Melody'
Memories from school days Slumber parties, going to movies at the Lake Theater and buying popcorn, pop, and Jr Mints--and still having change from 50 cents, the 4th of July Parade going by our house on North Shore Dr and the midway just a block away, walking and biking all over town, ice skating and the first time I was at the end of crack the whip, working at the Barrel Drive-Inn the first summer it opened, spending way too much time on studying--should have had more fun in school.
Birthday Sept 20, 1941
I've attached a picture of Leroy and me from last New Years Eve. Leroy got carried away after all that cola and put on my tierra.
