What’s happened since 1958?
Moved to Chicago in late '58, worked as Elec Tech at Zenith, married in '64, then moved to Champaign, Illinois. Graduated Univ of Illinois in Electronic Eng ’67. Moved to Rhode Island for 5 years, developed sonar systems for Raytheon & had two girls. Moved to Los Angeles in ’72, developed sonar systems for Bendix (now L-3) for 17 years. Divorced in ’74. Moved to San Diego in ’89, developing underwater systems, computer programs, and other stuff for Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) since then as a “Senior Scientist” (old fart). Got to travel a lot for my projects, got some patents on waterside security systems for harbors. Married Maria (with two boys) in ’92 (youngest daughter married us, oldest daughter was best man, a cool wedding by the sea at sunset) and are happily celebrating our 16th anniversary (or 4th) on Feb 29. Retired from teaching computers, she’s now teaching Aqua Exercising part time for geezers like us, & enjoyin’ life. Our kids & 8 grandkids (& even my ex) have now all moved within a few miles of us, so we lucked out & see ‘em often. Parents still live out on Main Street in Clear Lake, so we come back fairly often these days to check up on ‘em.
What’s happening now?
I’m semi-retired, still on the books but just working various assignments from home. Working on Tsunami buoys, energy harvesting systems, harbor security, & whatever gets a little paycheck. We’re living in a semi-retirement resort with a little lake & 2 golf courses, got a house on a fairway & a golf cart and a little pontoon boat. Two dogs, a Pomeranian & a Boxer/Rottweiler, treat ‘em as our kids now. Weather here is best in the country, I think. No snow, no freezing temps, no humidity & heat in summer, like Clear Lake for two weeks in spring & fall. Got arthritis & other complaints, but basically life doesn’t suck too much (yet).

Sailing, computer stuff, a little golf, antique Edison cylinder record players, relaxing
