Dick Weaver 62, of 1507 N. 23rd St., Clear Lake, Iowa died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at his home in Clear Lake. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the Richard Weaver Memorial fund.
Richard was born May 13, 1940 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Earl ³Bud² and Irene Helen (Bell) Weaver. He attended Clear Lake High School. Following high school he worked at the Clear Lake Bakery.
He married Nadine Slagle on April 12, 1959 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. They moved to Ft. Dodge where he drove for Sunbeam Bread.
They moved back to Clear Lake in 1970 when he became a route driver for Clear Lake Bakery. He drove the Emmetsburg route until 1997, when he took over the Clear Lake route and ran it until his retirement in May 2002 due to ill health.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, old cars, camping with his family and grandchildren, woodworking and he was a Rusty Wallace NASCAR fan. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Dick is survived by his wife, Nadine Weaver, Clear Lake; six children, Lanette Lauritzen and her husband, Bart, Clear Lake, Scott Weaver and his wife, Heidi, Tempe, Az., Lisa Glidden and her husband, Mark, Clear Lake, Michelle Weaver, Clear Lake, Richard Weaver Jr. and his wife, Laura, Clear Lake, and Nicky Froning and her husband, Jamie, Nora Springs, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, Caitlin Lauritzen, Brandon Weaver, Alyssa Weaver, Jace Weaver, Aspen Weaver, Rhys Glidden, Trey Weaver, Chelsea Weaver, Tyler Weaver, Quincy Weaver, Chase Froning, Skyler Froning and Harley Froning; one great-grandchild, Drake Weaver; a brother, Roger Weaver and his wife, Mary, Omaha, Neb.; and his father-in-law, Harold Slagle, Garner, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby Weaver; and his mother-in-law, Edna Slagle.
