A little bit of me died when I heard of Bill Shoop's death!  Our families go back to the 30's when our dad's were classmates at Clear Lake High School.  Not only were our dads high school buddies, but we grew up in the same neighborhood.  Bill and I spent many hours along with Larry (Wedge) Fuller exploring and playing in the vacant lots and alleys of Clear Lake.  Bill, Larry and I were the "gang" of the neighborhood until "Tinker" Harlan moved into our domain.  He fit right in, and we continued to be the "Four Musketeers".  I can't help but tell you that by the age of 10, Bill already knew how to drive.  Somehow he would get the keys and drive their car up and down the alley as his mother would be screaming for him to stop.  Giving up, she would retreat to the house with a final verbal blast of "Wait until your Dad gets home!"
Bill was liked by everyone even the neighborhood girls!  I can't remember a time when he and I got upset with each other.  What a great guy and I miss him already.
I am sure, remembering his beautiful smile, he is still spreading joy in abundance.
