Alvin Elmer Weaver was born September 11, 1938 in Livermore, Iowa to Alvin Herman and Eva Darline (Sprong) Weaver. Tuck graduated from Clear Lake (Iowa) High School in 1956. On June 28, 1959, he and Grace Staples were united in marriage at the Baptist Church in Storm Lake. The couple was blessed with four children: Alvin, Jr., Michael, Constance and Candace. Tuck and Grace would have been married 48 years on their upcoming June anniversary.
Tuck was a truck driver who enjoyed life and loved his family. Semi-retired, he was currently employed at  First Cooperative in Marathon. He was a member of the Marathon Fire Department for many years, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Marathon. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf, liked to travel and was always happy to sit down and visit with friends and neighbors. In his later years, he especially treasured his role as grandfather and made a point to attend his grandchildren's events. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Grace of Marathon; son Michael (Nancy) Weaver of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughter Constance (Ruben) Mendoza of Lakeside, Iowa; daughter Candace (Larry) Nielsen of Newell, Iowa; grandchildren: Michelle Weaver, Cassie Weaver, Amber Weaver, Brandon Nielsen, Alex Weaver, Bryce Nielsen, Ian Morales; sister Patricia Horzuesky of Osceola, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Tuck was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Alvin, Jr.; and one brother, Darrell Weaver.

Pat and I just had a nice visit with Grace this morning and she is doing as well as can be expected.  She has two girls and a son in the same  area so at this time they are a tremendous help for their Mom.

Grace said Tuck was hanging out at the local farmers coop and about 3:30 yesterday afternoon while sitting on a chair probably feeding everyone who would listen his famous one liners when he just fell off the chair and died instantly.  They are now planning on having the funeral Friday morning about 10:30 but the family is to meet with the funeral home people this morning so the plans could change.  I am not real sure everything will take place in Marathon or Laurens but they are so close together  everyone will know what is up.  Pat and I have elected to make  donation in Tuck's name to Handicap Village as he would always ask how Teresa was doing.

Now we all have a story or two about Tuck but the one I still laugh at to his day happened at a Rumble at our home on South Shore.  We had the  big motorhome parked out in the back yard and Tuck and Gracie stayed in it.  Since we always had cars to park they were getting close to the motorhome which is okay because no one was going anyplace anyway.

Very early in the morning I was sitting on the patio drinking coffee when Tuck came up the hill laughing like crazy and I could not understand why.  As he hot closer I could tell something was kooky but still did not have a clue what had happened.  It seems it was dark when Tuck got up and was trying to get out of the motorhome without waking Gracie up.  He found a bank of light switches and proceeded to turn each one off and on until he found one that turned on a light.

What he was not aware of was he had turned the power on the the retractable step so the step quietly went to  its perch underneath the coach.  Tuck opened the door to a beautiful south shore morning in C. L. and fell a pretty good distance more or less bouncing off the hood and front fender of someone's car.  After it got light we walked down to see if the car looked like one of those we see on trucks going into the recycling plant, about the thickness of a quarter.  Tuck and I knew if  he glanced off of a car there is no way even a tank could survive that.....

As we add Tuck's name to our memorial list it is hard to imagine all of those great names already there actually helped to shape our lives.  With no shame I have to admit I am proud our Leach Salt Truck is once again parked in my eyesight...  Lotza Hugs    Pat and Jerry

Just got a call from Tuck and Gracie's daughter and Gracie passed away last night from heart problems in the hospital in Fort Dodge.  If I remember right Tucker died a year ago in March.  Time marches on.  Jerry Millard, 12 June, 2008
