MARITAL STATUS: Married
to Pat Mahoney in 1958. We had 4 daughters, all of whom live in California. I remarried in 1994 to Chris,
who has a son and a daughter who also live in California. We have a total of 7 grandchildren. We also
have a home in Palm Desert to enable us to visit the family and to avoid winter in Vermont.
HIGHLIGHTS
OF YOUR LIFE: After graduating from Iowa State, I went to Law School in San Francisco and was admitted
to the California Bar. I began my legal career at a major bank and progressed to the position of General
Counsel. I was Chief Trial Attorney and head of a Legal Department with 24 lawyers in 3 states. After
17 or so years, I wanted to spend more time perusing my passion for sailing. I took early retirement
and spent much of the next 3 years sailing. I had 2 boats at different locations, a 37 foot Hunter and
a 43 foot Hans Christian. In addition to sailing my boats I chartered boats in various parts of the world
to permit me to sail in the Caribbean, the American Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, the Netherlands
Antilles, the French West Indies, Tahiti (twice) , the Greek Islands, and the Sea of Cortez. It was in
the Sea of Cortez that I met Chris, and we've been sailing together ever since. After all this sailing
I needed a break from the sea and went to work for a small bank in California as General Counsel to start
an in house Legal Department. This went well, but it seemed too much like work, so I retired again
after 6 years. Chris and I traveled all over to look for a place we would like to retire, and after buying
another boat and sailing in the Bahamas for a while, we picked Vermont as our primary residence.
RETIREMENT FUN: When we are in Vermont we spend our time antiquing, looking for old books, gardening,
boating on the lake, playing golf, and enjoying the New England way of life. When we are in Palm Desert,
we swim, play tennis, golf, and visit the kids and grandkids.
MEMORIES FROM YOUR SCHOOL
DAYS: I enjoyed going to basketball games and throwing snowballs at passing cars with Al.
TYPE
OF MUSIC AND ACTIVITIES YOU NOW ENJOY: |

I like instrumental music. I have a fond memory of joining Pat Breheny back stage at the Surf during
intermission while he interviewed Stan Kenton for his radio program. I was a Kenton fan.
